Back in 2020, I left a very abusive relationship that left me with a mild level of PTSD. Before I could see a therapist, my mentor suggested that I write three letters: one to God, one to the abuser, and one to myself (not to be sent).
He told me to be honest and hold absolutely nothing back. So, I did! That exercise was so impactful that I continued to write in my journal, and I did it until I ran out of blank pages. Journaling became my secret sauce for emptying out painful things, limiting beliefs, and a whole lot of things that were no longer serving me.
However, what I have come to learn is that not everyone is ready to write a letter about how they truly feel. And that’s okay. Perhaps, putting down on paper how your day was, what you are grateful for, and even happy memories is a start—the goal: exercise your power to express yourself and look at areas that need tending.
So, I put together this free e-book, “The Power of Journaling,” with some suggestive prompts to help you get started on your journaling and healing journey.
